British Film Institute was founded in 1947, primarily the original object to be recognized was British films and a British nationality actor performancing the foreign films. It was the eauivalent of the British Academy Award. However, in recent years, the films are to be nominated as long as they are in the United Kingdom and the awards are world wild which produces a greater impact. The award is now set up similar to the Academy Awards. In 1959 with association of the film producer and director, its name was changed to the film and TV Society. Then later in 1975 it was renamed as the British Academy of Film and TV Arts. The once a year award started in 1947 and awards on February 25. The first award set up the best picture, best British film, best documentary. The 2nd addition of the best feature film award. The United Nations Award for the 3rd addition. 6th additional Best British Actress, Best British Actor, Best Foreign Actress, Best Foreign Actor, the most promising new five awards. Almost every subsequent sessions have created a new award.

On the initia
tive of Bergman in 1988 in Sweden, the European Academy was issued the first time as European Film Awards. The award aims to establish a permanent European countries to follow the film’s artistic spirit and intends to awaken a global audience of European arts and humanities confidence in and support the film. The original headquarters of the European Film Awards had been based in Berlin, Germany. The European Film Awards broke down geographical constraints when coming nito the late 90s, and the ten-year celebration moved to London. The European Film Awards of 2000 was held in Paris, France. The German film director WimWenders replaced the Sweden director IngmarBergman as the President of the European Film Academy which has 1000 members in 1988 and 1996. The original trophy-a man holding grapes designed by the Berlin artist Markus Lupertz was replaced by a beauty with long hair wearing a dress which was designed by a British designer whose name is TheoFennell in 1997. It was an amazing coincidence that this beautiful Oscar exactly the same height as the one of the US, just a pair of mirrored in the pride of enemy.

Scent of a Woman
Charlie Simms is a student at a private preparatory school. Although from a modest background, he is excellent enough to attend on scholarship. To pay for his flight home to Gresham, Oregon for Christmas, Charlie takes a part-time job over Thanksgiving looking after a cantankerous, irascible retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel named Frank Slade (Al Pacino), who is now blind and prone to alcoholism. more »
