Divorce
Isabel is a typical American girl who is quit independent in personality. She is admitted into a Film College, but she decides to quit because of those unbearable restrictions from the college.
One day Isabel receives a letter from her sister Roxanne who gets married in Paris. It turns out that Roxanne is coming across a marriage crisis. Her husband Charles-Henri betrays her, when she is with an eight-month-old baby. To help her sister with the divorce, Isabel leaves California for Paris in France where she supports her sister to live.
As something wrong happens during the divorce, Isabel has to stay in Paris for quite a long time, so she finds herself a job. During that time, Isabel falls in love with a married man called Edgar – a French diplomatist who is 70 years old. Edgar is absolutely too old for Isabel, but he is considerate enough to borrow Isabel a Kelly bag. Then her partner who also receives a Kelly bag from Edgar many years ago, warns her of the old man.
However, Isabel is open in mind: she is willing to find herself a man who treats her well. So she devotes herself into this unstable relationship. Unfortunately, Isabel finds out that she does have some relationship with Edgar. He turns out to be the uncle of Roxanne’s ex-husband. This discovery pushes the American sisters to the face of cultural shocks.
Not until then do Isabel and Roxanne come to realize how hard it is for modern American women to make lives in Paris. Opinions between the Americans and French, like moral, sex, or even food and clothes are completely different. They become confused at these differences.
Suddenly Edgar says goodbye to Isabel, which makes her think deeper about the romance of the French. She finally realizes that, one has to pay a lot if he wants to be a complete American in place like Paris.
