What Dreams May Come
“When I was a young boy, I met a beautiful girl at the lake.”
Christy met a beautiful girl, Annie, at a lake, and soon they fell into love and then formed a family. Christy and Annie had two children – a son and a daughter. They lived a happy life, although there existed some conflicts between Christy and his children. There was no doubt that Christy loved his family, as well as his children deeply. However, he was a serious father who seemed to be too strict to his children. He wanted to make up for that, but god didn’t give him this chance. His children died at a car accident.
Four years later, Christy himself, as a doctor, died at a crash while he was trying to save someone. That was really a critical strike to Annie, who was left alone on the earth. Nevertheless, Christy did not disappear after his death, he just lived as some sort of soul. He tried to touch Annie, who was in great misery, but he failed. So he had to go somewhere he should, and a man called Albert led him there. It was in a paint drawn by Annie, and they managed to communicate through paintings. At this time, Christy even found out his daughter. She came to him as an illusion of a beautiful and mature oriental woman as Christy dreamed several years ago.
Bad news came that Annie committed suicide while Christy was beginning to adjust himself to his afterlife. She could no longer put up with those unfortunates god gave her, so she killed herself. However, she was not allowed to have a reunion with Christy, because suicide’s went somewhere else.
Christy decided to bring her back, regardless of that rule. Albert was beside him and they turned to an old man for help. They went to the hell, where unimaginably hostile things was going on. Christy recognized Albert to be his son there, and his son finally hugged him and forgave him. Christy went on his journey, and managed to found Annie. But unfortunately she had no memory of him at that time. He remembered her words after their children’s death, with which he eventually aroused her memory.
At the end of the story, Christy and Annie decided to try again those beautiful times. Christy became a little boy and Annie became a little girl. They met each other at a lake again. And life went on.
People’s afterlife is always having something to do with their lives when they are alive. If one believes in paradise, then there will be a paradise. If one draws or make models for paradise, then his paradise will be like that. Life and death are just parts of the circulation everyone should appreciate.
